Remembering 9/11

Keep the Memory Green: September 11, 2001

As we do every year, we remember Father Mychal Judge, the first of the first responders to die on 9/11 when, as chaplain of the firehouse across the street from St. Francis Church in NYC, where he was a priest, he rushed with the firefighters down to the World Trade Center.

Mychal was a recovering alcoholic and attended meetings of the St. Francis group, where Ray once heard him share his experience, strength, and hope. No doubt there were other anonymous alcoholics among those who died at the Twin Towers, Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon.

We honor the memory of all the victims who died on that tragic day.
